There are two ways to print labels.
Sheets of Labels
One ways is to purchase sheets of labels and print them in a laser or inkjet printer. The disadvantage to this method is that you always end up with leftover labels on the sheet and it cannot be run through the printer again. So sheets of labels work best when you are printing large quantities of labels. Examples would be for Recall, Birthday cards, etc. The recall section has built-in functionality for printing sheets of labels, although most offices prefer laser postcards instead. If you need sheets of labels for any other purpose, you have to create a report, export to a text file, and then merge into your own Word template.
Label Printer
The other way to print labels is one at a time using a special label printer. A dedicated label printer costs about $200. It uses thermal printing technology, so it requires special labels made specifically for thermal printers. It plugs into the USB port and requires some installation. This is useful for single address labels for a patient or insurance carrier. Once you setup your label printer as a Windows printer, go to the DentOffice Printer Setup on the workstation where you will be printing labels. Set labels to print on your new printer with no prompt.
To print a single label for a patient, go to the Account module for that patient, and click the Label button at the lower right. To print a single label for an insurance carrier, go to the Insurance Plan edit window from the Family module. There is a button at the bottom that allows you to print your label. One other way to print a label for a carrier is from the Send Claims window. Highlight the claims you need to send, then click the label button in the toolbar. Single labels will be printed for those carriers.
