Back to Manual Table of Contents Selecting PatientsIn most of the modules, there is a button at the upper left for selecting the patient: Clicking on this button will bring up the following window. In the example below, there are not very many patients in the database or the list would be much longer. Typing in one or more of the search boxes at the upper right lets you narrow the list of patients to quickly find the patient you are interested in. When you see the patient you want, you can press Enter, click OK, or double click on the patient in the list. If the patient is a new patient and is not on the list, you can add a new family using the button to the right. You can see that the layout is very large so that it is easy to verify that you are selecting the correct patient. You also can see a lot of information at a glance about each patient. In fact the information is so extensive, that you may need to use the horizontal scroll bar to see information you are interested in. Once you have selected the correct patient, and the window has closed, the current patient will be showing in whatever module you are in. There is also a dropdown list on the right side of each Select Patient button. The list will show the last five patients that were selected. And below that, in the family section, you can see all family members of the current family. You can select any of the listed patients by clicking on their name. In DentOffice, there is always one current patient. That patient is shown at the very top in the title bar. Moving between modules does not change the current patient. One way to change the current patient is to click on the Select Patient button from a module. Another way to change the current patient is to click on a different family member in the Family module or the Account module. Also, if you are in the Appointments module, clicking on any appointment changes the current patient. So, a common routine to follow would be to go to the Appointments module, click on an appointment to change the current patient, and then change to a different module to work with that patient's information.
