HIPAA

DentOffice is completely HIPAA compliant, with all privacy concerns being addressed. DentOffice uses CDT-4 codes exclusively, it uses the ADA 2002 claim form, and the electronic claims are sent to the clearing house in a HIPAA compliant format. We are also easily on target to meet any possible future security requirement.

HIPAA requirements are broad and complex and can be interpreted in many different ways. The responsibility for HIPAA compliance ultimately falls to each dental office. To make sure your computer systems are HIPAA compliant, be sure to follow the networking guidelines, use virus protection, and MAKE BACKUPS!! The primary concern at all times must be the safety and integrity of the patient data. If you take reasonable precautions to protect the patient data, then you should be HIPAA compliant in that area. If you need more information and examples of the forms that patients and business associates must sign, you should request information from the American Dental Association at www.ada.org.

The business associate agreement form for DentOffice Software is available here. If you will be sending us patient information for any reason, please be sure to sign and date the form, and make a copy. Keep one for your records, and return one to us for our records.
